Residents' Steering Group

A residents’ steering group was formed in May 2017 to help with the decision-making process as part of the regeneration programme.

The group is formed of Clarion Housing residents living in the proposed regeneration and local councillors. It has been instrumental in shaping the designs of the overall masterplan, homes and outdoor spaces.

Since the launch of the Residents Steering Group on the 11th May 2017, we have met formally 19 times, with other activities taking place outside of these core meetings. These have included:

  • Site visits to other regeneration schemes (Devonport)
  • Attendance at consultation events and workshops
  • Media training
  • Chair person training
  • Additional meetings to discuss specific topics outside of the main RSG remit (community groups, involvement in ‘Bridging Barne Barton – the Island stories, the Barne Barton social history project)

The steering group is shown all material before it is distributed to the rest of the estate. We do this to make sure it is resident friendly and that we are including information residents want to hear. This information is then shared with the whole estate through events, workshops or our newsletter.

The steering group is open to new residents. Please email if you would like to join.
