Are you passionate about your community? Would you like to use your skills, knowledge, and experience to support issues affecting Clarion residents?
At Clarion, we value our residents’ insights and views. This is why a third of our Clarion Housing Association Board members are residents.
We are looking for a resident to join the Board, someone who can bring knowledge and fresh perspective to make a difference.
The role of the Clarion Housing Association Board
The Board handles the delivery of all our landlord services. Their role is to work together to shape and improve how we manage and maintain our homes.
We are keen for our resident Board members to be representative of the communities we serve and for members to come from a range of diverse backgrounds. The Board currently has three existing resident members, each offering various skills and experience.
What being a Board member involves
As a resident Board member, you will have the same legal responsibilities as your fellow Board members. Ideally, you will have some experience serving similar responsibilities and need to:
- Be able to communicate effectively and constructively and interpret a variety of information.
- Develop effective working relationships with your fellow Board members and the executive team.
How we will support you
For your time and commitment, we will pay you £10,000 a year and cover any reasonable travel costs.
We will also provide tailored training and an induction programme for the successful candidate, including assigning you a mentor.
We will provide you with the technology required to participate in meetings.
Time commitment
It is important you meet the time commitment which is around two to three days a month.
The Board also meet in person six times a year, and there are required site visits, training sessions, away days and an annual appraisal you’ll need to take part in.
You must read any reports before meetings so you can take part effectively.
