Members of Clarion Housing’s regional scrutiny committees from across the country have met to help improve services for all residents.
Each year, residents volunteer to participate in regional scrutiny committees, with each region reporting on a specific topic at the end of the year. In May, 28 of 45 committee members met in London to present their feedback to members of the Clarion Housing board, who subsequently agreed to take action on behalf of all residents.
This was a valuable opportunity for residents to share their experiences and to present resident insights to the board. Their regional scrutiny reviews for 2018-19 focused on areas central to all residents’ lives:
- East – customer satisfaction
- North – voids
- South – communication
- London North – customer journey mapping
- London South – fire safety in blocks over six storeys.
The committee members also discussed a range of topics including terms of reference, the code of practice and the need for more training, which will now be provided this year. They also proposed subjects for the next scrutiny topics which included important issues such as estate inspections, resident involvement and fly-tipping.
“I really enjoyed meeting Clarion Housing board members. It was great that they took the time to network and talk to us - it was an invaluable opportunity to share our views on behalf of all residents.” said one resident.
Another resident commented: “Clarion Housing is a big association and it was very useful for all regions to come together to discuss aspects of scrutiny.”
