Key Worker Living is a government funded scheme that helps key workers in London, the South East and East of England to buy or rent a home at an affordable price. Clarion Housing provides key worker rented accommodation, and we have a number of properties available in the South East of England.
The rent we charge
Our key worker rents are mostly agreed with our referral agencies. Some include other charges such as water charges and council tax. Information specific to the property should be included in the advert.
Who is eligible to be considered a key worker?
A key worker is someone employed by the public sector in a frontline role delivering an essential public service in the areas of health, education and community safety where there are serious recruitment and retention problems. Eligibility criteria varies across regions depending on local recruitment and retention priorities.
*In certain circumstances we will consider keyworkers who are on a visa. These will be assessed on an individual case basis.
We value good tenants, and where possible we will gather references from previous landlords.
You will also need to be able to pay one month's rent as a deposit and the rent amount due from the tenancy start date to the end of that month.
Additional 3 Months rent payment in full in addition to the above part-rent and deposit payment for applicants unable to produce a credit report (anyone without a 3 year UK address history).
For most of our schemes you will need to be referred to us via your trust contact. If you work for the NHS there should be an accommodation officer who can refer you.
Non trust key workers and any other employed applicants are accepted for Hanover Park and Bertha James Court single person rooms on a per application basis providing there are no trust nominations in the waiting list for this property type.
