This role has been made available through our contractor, Equans.
As a trainee at Equans, you will be introduced to the key principles and practices of quantity surveying within the construction industry, providing essential support to senior quantity surveyors while developing your skills in the field. This role offers an excellent opportunity for someone eager to build a career in construction, gain hands-on experience, and work towards becoming a fully qualified Quantity Surveyor.
You will work closely with experienced professionals, assisting in various stages of project development, from pre-construction through to completion, and be involved in activities such as cost estimation, contract administration, and project management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the Quantity Surveyor with commercial and project administration.
- Assist with subcontractor procurement, selection, and contract management.
- Monitor project costs, budgets, and support cost control activities.
- Prepare and manage payment applications, valuations, and subcontractor accounts.
- Assist with take-offs, BOQs, and cost estimates.
- Maintain accurate records and communicate professionally with stakeholders.
- Track project progress and support reporting to ensure works remain on programme.
- Assist with procurement of materials and identify cost-saving opportunities.
Requirements:
- A minimum of 5 GCSEs at grades 9 to 4 (A* to C), including Mathematics and English.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and general IT competence.
- Excellent numeracy and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to balance work and study commitments effectively.
- Enrolment in or willingness to undertake a 5-year university apprenticeship degree programme.
