Community and digital grants
See how you can get a community or digital grant for up to £5,000.
Find out how you can get a grant of up to £5,000 for a project to help improve your local community.
We fund a range of projects that encourage community engagement and promote health and wellbeing. This includes projects for young people or older people, projects that regenerate local facilities or estates, or projects that provide access to training or educational courses.
The projects we fund need to directly benefit our residents and their neighbourhoods, but they can also support the wider community.
If you have an idea that you could improve your community, we offer grants worth up to £5,000 to bring your vision to life.
Lewisham Arthouse used one of our community grants to help organise their inspirational Making Works workshops for young people.
These free, outdoor sessions help local children have fun creating art and sculptures, while also teaching them transferrable practical skills.
How it works
Your project must support and engage our residents and their community. If it does, we can award grants to pay for costs like:
- event fees eg venue hire and refreshments
- equipment, resources or marketing materials
- delivery staff costs or volunteer expenses
- overheads (10% of project total).
Grants can also be used for capital costs, but we can’t support requests for 100% of capital costs unless it’s clear how the money will directly benefit our residents and the community.
We don’t offer funding for party-political or religious activities; commercial ventures; retrospective funding; individuals or projects run by individuals; or activities excluding people by religion, ethnicity, gender or sexuality.
You can only apply if you’re a not-for-profit organisation. This includes constituted community groups, registered charities, social enterprises and parent teacher associations.
What you need
- Minimum of three unrelated management committee members.
- Governing document.
- Bank account and statement.
- Annual income below £500,000.
- Record of income and expenditure (or forecasts for a new group).
- Safeguarding policy for work with people under 18 or vulnerable adults.
- Insurance, including public liability where needed.
You can’t apply if you’ve received a community grant from us within the past 12 months, or if you have incomplete monitoring on a previous grant.
Grants for existing projects
If you're applying for a grant for an existing project, you’ll need to show how your previous experiences have helped you learn and develop new ideas that address and respond to community needs.
