New community food pantry

Clarion Housing Group

Clarion teams up with other housing associations to open new community ‘food pantry’ in South Kensington.

Working in partnership, Clarion Futures (the charitable foundation of Clarion Housing Group), Southern Housing Group and The Guinness Partnership have co-funded the St Giles Food Pantry which officially opened on Wednesday 11 September.

Based in Ixworth Place, South Kensington, the pantry is being run by the St Giles Trust. Having been referred to the scheme by one of the pantry’s recognised partner organisations, residents will be able to access high-quality heavily discounted groceries supplied by FareShare in return for a £3.50-per-week subscription.

The St Giles Food Pantry is believed to be one of the first of its kind in London due to the additional support that will be available to residents.

Phil Miles, Director of Clarion Futures, said: “Working with partners means that we’re able to offer local people so much more than food through St Giles Food Pantry. By providing additional support, including access to free debt advice and money management guidance, and helping people to secure paid employment, we’ll be able to address some of the issues causing food insecurity and transform lives for the better.”
