This National Apprenticeship Week, Danny shares his experience of becoming an apprentice.
"After leaving college, I worked in car sales for three years, which I really enjoyed. When I met met partner, I decided to find a new job, so I found an administrative role.
I didn’t enjoy the role because I wasn’t fulfilled. The work was extremely repetitive and didn’t offer any development or progression opportunities. The wage wasn’t enough to support my partner and I.
As a result, I began to feel some financial pressure, which motivated me to find a new career. I spent most of my time looking for a new job that offered a good work-life balance, progression, and an opportunity to use the skills I developed in my previous roles.
In the summer of 2023, having just married my partner, I learned that we were expecting our first child.
I felt more motivated than ever to find a new career that would allow me to support my family financially.
I spent the next few months looking for other jobs, with no success. I thought that I would soon need to return to my old role.
A close friend of mine, who works at Clarion, referred me for an apprenticeship in the Procurement Team. The role offered the opportunities and attributes I was seeking, so I submitted my application, which was successful."
Starting an Apprenticeship
“On September 13, 2023, I started my new role. I have settled into my role swiftly and I am enjoying my time in the team.
I have been able to utilise the skills that I learnt in car sales and these skills have been very useful in helping me in my new role.
Clarion has given me the opportunity to spend time with my family, which was my main priority.
I feel greatly appreciated and valued by my team and Clarion. I have formed so many professional relationships within the company through networking events.
Working at Clarion has relieved my financial pressures. I feel happy, motivated, and confident knowing that I have a bright future ahead of me.
My experience so far at Clarion has been second to none. The opportunities and support represent a company that genuinely care for their staff and takes pride in what they do.
I am proud to be a part of Clarion and I am thankful to my close friend who referred me.”
