Regulator confirms Clarion’s commitment to keeping you and your home safe

Clarion

Your safety and wellbeing are our priority, so we welcome today’s judgement from the Regulator of Social Housing (RSH) confirming that we are continuing to meet its standards for how we are run, how financially stable we are, and how we serve you, our residents.

The Regulator of Social Housing is a government body responsible for overseeing social housing providers, with its main functions including ensuring effective property management, safety and quality of homes. It aims to inspect large housing associations at least every four years.

Our progress on fixing issues and improving services

Clarion received a new consumer rating of C2, showing we are meeting expectations for resident services. We know that we do not always get it right and there is more to do, especially in increasing the quantity of condition information of all our homes and making our complaints process better for you. Work is already underway to address these areas, and we are firmly committed to working with the Regulator as we continue in our mission to drive up improvements and ensure we are always transparent.

The Regulator’s findings recognise our compliance with the new consumer standards and the strong systems we have put in place to ensure your health and safety. This also includes the way our Board checks up on these regularly.

The Regulator also noted the strides we have taken to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of our repairs and maintenance services which form part of our wider improvement programme.

A strong foundation for the future

We are pleased to share that the Regulator has upgraded our financial rating to V1 - the highest possible grade. This means that we are in a strong position to manage our finances and continue investing in your home and community, even during challenging times.

The Regulator recognised that we have solid financial plans, strong oversight, and enough funding in place to support our work. This includes improving our existing homes, building new ones, and continuing our journey towards hitting net zero carbon by 2025 - helping to make your home more energy efficient, more affordable to run and healthier with better access to nature.

Maintaining the highest governance standards

We are also pleased to confirm that we have kept our G1 governance rating - the highest standard rating awarded by the Regulator. This means that our systems are working well, that our Board provides an effective oversight, challenges us where necessary, that we are managing risks responsibly, and offering value for money.

We welcome the Regulator’s acknowledgement of the important role our residents play holding us to account through tenant scrutiny and the Board’s commitment to constant improvement.

As we celebrate our 125th anniversary year, this recognition from the Regulator reflects our unwavering commitment to safety, to keep raising the bar on quality, and supporting the vibrant, diverse communities we serve for generations to come.
