Why Apply?

Introduction:

At BJF Group we believe that our attendance at careers events is invaluable in helping us find the right young people for our company as well as supporting the community and young people into employment. For us they provide us the opportunity to:

  • Actively engage with lots of talented young people in one place
  • Share BJF Group with you and the benefits for working with our organisation
  • Support young people with making informed training and career choices
  • Build long standing relationships with schools, colleges and universities to form a mutually beneficial partnership
  • Solidify and share our commitment to young people, their future and us as a reliable and credible employer.

At the Event:

BJF Group representatives are carefully selected to ensure the appropriate people are available for students to gather as much information as possible from them. We will greet you with a positive and welcoming environment, aim to talk to as many attendees as possible, and provide students sufficient opportunity to ask us any questions.

During our conversations, we will look to:

  • Gain an insight into the subjects you currently enjoy studying
  • Your interests outside of an education setting
  • Where you have them, your future career aspirations
  • Provide advice and guidance on joining our industry
  • Career and study pathways available
  • What it takes to succeed and what we at BJF Group look for in potential candidates.

Work Experience at BJF Group:

Undecided on what career path you want to take and what area to continue your studies? Have you thought about a work experience placement or taster days? We recognise that young people may not know what they want to do in the future or have a few ideas.

At BJF Group we host work experience placements throughout the business (subject to young person’s risk assessments being satisfactory). These placements provide a real time in person insight into our organisation, the work setting, how we supervise you, our culture and an introduction to the business area, team, and role that you are interested in for the future

We are open to providing advice and mentorship to any young person who engages with our business and who presents with a strong work ethic and positive attitude. Any work experience placements are subject to an initial interview.

Apprenticeship Frameworks Supported:

At BJF Group we support apprenticeships across all divisions and most locations UK wide. We currently have 8 active apprentices within our organisation their chosen framework ranges from office based, Business Administration, Procurement and Plumbing and Electrical.

At BJF Group we employee over 300 people in support teams and operational roles covering most industry trades. Where an apprenticeship framework exists and a business need, we will provide adequate support and are open to exploring opportunities with young people to join the team and be the future of BJF Group, whether there is an active vacancy or not.

Whilst Level 2 and Level 3 apprenticeships don’t always require you to have a minimum GSCE grade, it will be more desirable with a new employer and without the minimum grade 4 in English and Maths you will be subject to taking a functional skills course (usually alongside your studies).

At BJF Group we have no strict selection process regarding GCSE grades when joining in an entry level position, we focus on attitude, self-belief and a passion for learning and succeeding.

T-Level Support:

T-Levels are a new course launched in 2020, which are broadly equivalent to 3 A-Levels, they were designed to provide you, the student with a more rounded and practical education, ultimately being more useful to us as an employer.

During a two-year course, students gain knowledge and experience in topics such as:

Building technology, Design, Construction & the Built Environment, Sustainability, Relationship management and Project management.

T Levels offer students practical and knowledge-based learning at a school or college and on-the-job experience through an industry placement of at least 315 hours – approximately 45 days. In 2024 BJF Group are looking to support T-Levels as well as apprenticeships.

T Levels differ from an apprenticeship. T Levels prepare students for work, further training or further study. An apprenticeship is typically 80% on-the-job and 20% in the classroom and is more suited to those who want to earn a wage and learn at the same time and are ready to enter the workforce at age 16.

Not forgetting :

On most 16-19 training programmes students must work towards attainment of Maths and English GCSE if you have not already achieved grade 4 or above at GCSE, as students do on other 16 to 19 programmes.

Working in the Construction Industry :

Construction is a multi-billion-pound industry that deals with developing the underlying structure of anything from a new build house or school, maintaining premises to high-speed rail projects.

Traditional and specialist apprenticeships cover a range of occupations, from groundworks and plant maintenance to civil engineering and joinery.

Meanwhile, those with a flair for being organised could help make sure projects run on time and within budget, liaise with suppliers, or assist a civil engineer with design plans. Apprenticeships include:

  • Building Services Design Technician
  • Quantity surveyor
  • Architect
  • Bricklayer

Who are we looking for?

  • A career that will challenge and motivate
  • A flexible, supportive, and caring environment
  • The opportunity to progress, make key decisions and own their future

Our Values:

  • Trusted
