This Get Online Week discover how our digital device scheme helps you stay connected

Clarion

At Clarion, we firmly believe the internet is for everyone and are passionate about helping to fix the digital divide, toppling the barriers that prevent people benefiting from being online.

We are supporting this year’s Get Online Week (16 - 22 October) by highlighting how we can help support you to stay connected and empowered in an increasingly digital world. We strongly believe that everyone should be equipped with the tools they need to thrive online, and our Digital Device scheme allows you to borrow a digital device for free if you need it to support your individual journey, whether that is finding a job or mastering new digital skills.

Giving you the tools to flourish in the digital era

Run by Clarion Futures, our Digital Device scheme provides eligible residents with the essential tools needed for staying connected and learning new digital skills with confidence, including laptops with MS Office, Android tablets, and smartphones with built-in Wi-Fi. We can even provide basic technical support to help get you set up.

In addition, we can also support you with meeting broadband costs if you are struggling. This includes providing free mobile data bundles or pre-paid data plans, enabling you to access the internet, calls and texts.

Grace's story

Clarion resident, Grace, was referred to Clarion Futures Digital Support team due to a pressing need for better equipment. Her digital resources were limited, owning an old mobile phone that had battery and charging issues and mainly having access to the internet through the local library.

Combined, these issues significantly hindered her ability to explore job opportunities online, access training courses, and learn vital digital skills. With limited connectivity, Grace was left feeling isolated from the outside world, which impacted on her wellbeing and optimism.

Grace received a laptop and smartphone through the Digital Device scheme, which she would not have otherwise been able to afford, and her circumstances began to transform. Through online learning websites, she has been able to improve her grammar and spelling and access online seminars and Zoom meetings with employment specialists.

By having the laptop and smartphone, Grace now feels less isolated, is happier and is looking forward to the future. The scheme's benefits have also extended to her family, including her son, who has autism, and has found great value in accessing online courses and webinars that suit his needs and learning style.

Grace said: "I would just like to thank you for the laptop and mobile phone. As a result of the technology you have provided for me, I am now on my journey back to education and eventually paid employment."
