Community gathering at Crownhill Estate

Clarion

Our Housing and Clarion Futures teams recently came together to organise a community event at Crownhill Estate in Plymouth, bringing together residents and local organisations.

The event was part of our ongoing efforts to improve the area, working closely with residents on a shared plan for positive changes.

The event brought the community together, and was an opportunity for residents to find out more about the support available from Clarion and our partner organisations. Teams were able to assist with resident enquiries on repairs, digital support, money guidance and more.

The digital support team were around to help residents find out more about our digital skills offer, with one-to-one support and there was an opportunity to win a computer tablet. Mike Peek, Digital Support Officer, was available to address individual concerns and broadband issues.

Local organisations also in attendance included, Borrow Don't Buy, which helps with lending a range of items, and Argyle Community Trust, which helps deliver a community allotment project in the area.

Ferndale Community Radio were on-site broadcasting, and Clarion Futures' very own Kevin McCloskey, Communities Officer, entertained residents with his singing and guitar playing.

The event was a great turnout with Councillor Chris Penberthy, City Council Cabinet Member for Housing, the local ward councillors, Tess Blight and James Devine-Stoneman, as well as 40 residents who joined in on the fun and games.

Since the event, streetlights in the car park have been reported to the local council and have now been repaired, and local councillors have committed to attending future task and finish group meetings to support residents with non-Clarion issues.
