How you can help the environment this Earth Day

Clarion

Earth Day is a great reminder that small changes at home can make a big difference to the environment. Whether it is reducing waste, saving energy or spending more time outdoors, there are simple ways we can all help protect the planet.

Bringing residents together

One of our estates in North London, The Towers, has recently benefitted from a series of improvements, helping to create a flourishing, more welcoming and positive outdoor space for residents. The addition of a new gate and planting has transformed the area, encouraging residents to spend more time outdoors and supporting a stronger sense of community across the estate.

During the recent school holidays, families came together for a planting day, giving children the chance to get stuck in, learn new skills and enjoy time connecting with nature.

With support from our gardeners, children learned about gardening and took part in planting flower seeds, herbs and vegetables. Parents were there to support and get involved, making it a shared experience for families and a great way to bring the residents together.

The session offered a fun and practical way to learn something new, while also encouraging habits that can be continued at home. Growing your own herbs or vegetables, even in small spaces, is a simple step that can help reduce waste and support more sustainable living.

Community days like this are just one way we are raising awareness and taking action to protect the environment.

The garden looks absolutely beautiful. It’s such a thoughtful idea to plant a mix of vegetables and flowers in the living area. Seeing the kids so engaged and loving the space shows how successful the planning has been. Transitioning from the planning phase to the actual gardening has brought the area to life, and the result is both functional and stunning. It’s a perfect environment for family.

Small actions at home

There are lots of easy ways to make a difference in everyday life too. Choosing reusable products, travelling by public transport where possible, or simply being mindful of energy and water use, can all help reduce our impact on the environment.

While these actions might seem small on their own, together they can have a big impact. By making a few simple changes and taking part in activities, such as planting days, we can all play a part in creating a more sustainable future.
