Become an ambassador
If you’re aged 17-25, you can have your say, help improve local and national services, and speak up for other young people by joining our ambassador programmes.
National ambassadors
Our award-winning national ambassador programme invests in the rich potential of young people in our communities.
You can join a team of 17-25-year-old residents helping to ensure young people have a voice in shaping our services. You’ll also help to positively change the perception of young people.
You’ll be supported to design and deliver social action projects. Recent projects have ranged from building apps and websites to organising events and helping form policies.
And you’ll also benefit from a personal development plan and a dedicated mentor to help you gain invaluable leadership skills, confidence and experience.
We have recruited more than 55 young people on to the scheme.

Meet Niomi – national ambassador
“My journey really started when I found myself pregnant at 18. After some time living in a hostel, I managed to secure my first tenancy when my son was five months old.
“My mind has always been focused on helping improve the lives of young people, so I did community volunteering placements for various youth programmes.
“As a national ambassador, we were given an opportunity to help create more positive relationships between older and younger residents. By sharing our stories and views, we were able to help shift the perception of young people.
“Coming out the other side, being a national ambassador helped me better understand my purpose and decide exactly what I wanted to do while supporting others.”
Community ambassadors
As a community ambassador, you’ll help local youth and community organisations, and ensure young people have a say in how we do things in your community.
Our recent community ambassadors have:
- organised community days
- transformed disused estate offices into spaces for young people
- improved community relations between different community groups.
As a community ambassador, you’re also able to take accredited training courses that help you develop valuable work skills.
