Gardening Brings the Community Together

Clarion

A brand new community garden has been installed behind the Community Centre in Vange Hill Drive, Basildon.

We worked with Trust Links, an independent charity for mental health, wellbeing and the environment, and with the support of external stakeholders, to transform an unused and overgrown plot of land into a wonderful garden.

The community garden has introduced two log cabins which can be used by local groups, as well as a large potting shed, a pond, raised beds, a green roof gazebo and a wildlife area.

Trust Links also offer therapeutic gardening, recovery classes, social activities, employability support, training, environmental workshops and more. Clarion Futures along with Basildon Council, Essex County Council and the National Lottery funded this inspiring project and attended the launch. We marked the occasion with a ceremonial tree planting, music and refreshments.

You can make a referral to Trust Links to help with future projects  by completing an online form. Adults, children, young people and families are all welcome. Trust links also have sites in Southend, Castle Point, Rochford and Braintree.
