Our approach to displaying flags and symbols

Clarion

We understand that flags and symbols can be a meaningful way for residents to express themselves.

Residents are welcome to display flags inside their homes or on private balconies, as long as they're safe, respectful, and do not breach lease, planning, or fire safety rules. Flags must not include offensive content, or cause damage to the property.

Installing items like flagpoles may be considered a structural change and could need permission.

Flags must not be placed in communal areas, on lampposts, or anywhere they may pose a safety risk or cause tension in the community.

Graffiti is not allowed and will be removed. However, we’re open to working with communities who wish to explore permanent murals through Clarion Futures.

If we receive a complaint about a flag, we’ll investigate in line with our policies and tenancy agreements. Each case will be looked at individually. We will not tolerate any abuse of Clarion staff or third parties in the undertaking of duties relating to this. Any abuse will be dealt with under the terms and conditions of your tenancy agreement or lease.
