A new chapter for Warrior Close

Clarion

Warrior Close in Portslade is set to become a vibrant community hub where residents can connect, share ideas, and create activities they truly want to see in their neighbourhood.

Bringing the community together

To mark this transformation, our Communities Team organised an engagement day to welcome residents so they could see refurbished space, and share their ideas. Despite a slow start (and a few raindrops), the day soon filled with friendly conversations, laughter, and excitement about what’s to come.

We were joined by our partners from the Hangleton & Knoll Project (HKP), who will work alongside residents to develop activities and groups reflecting what matters most to them - from coffee chats to children’s play ideas, the conversations were buzzing with possibilities. The work (and a new Community Development Worker) starts full steam ahead in October.

A taste of what’s to come

On the day, residents enjoyed coffee and cakes from Ben the Barista and ice creams from Dan the Ice Cream Man. HKP’s Claire and Clare left with a list of new contacts and a notebook full of fresh ideas, ready for when the new worker starts in October.

Meanwhile, colleagues from Clarion Futures, Repairs, Neighbourhood Support, and Employment Support were on hand to answer questions, share advice, and listen to residents’ views.

Looking ahead

Following this launch, held in July during the school holidays, follow-up work will begin in October, when HKP’s new worker starts to engage the community and encourage residents to come together.

With energy and enthusiasm already building, Warrior Close is on the way to becoming an even more connected and caring place to live.
