Digital skills are no longer optional, they’re essential for staying connected, accessing services, and finding opportunities. At the Hawthorn Centre in Penge, one resident’s story shows just how life-changing these skills can be.
Simon first visited the Hawthorn Centre in Penge last April, wanting to improve his digital skills. With support from Clarion Futures Digital Support Officer, Stefano, Simon began one-to-one sessions that opened up a world of opportunities.
Building confidence and skills
Since that first session, Simon has completed all Learn My Way modules and 13 courses on the Alison platform. These achievements boosted his confidence and helped him feel less isolated. He even joined extra workshops, like “MS Word for Beginners,” which he found especially useful.
Giving back to the community
Inspired by his progress, Simon recently trained to become a Digital Champion. He is eager to support others in the community in enhancing their digital skills, turning his personal growth into a means of giving back and empowering others.
