Residents choose colours to put the final touches to a long-term project

Clarion

An extensive two-year programme of works across the Gorton estate in Manchester has completed, with the refurbishment of internal communal areas at six blocks of flats.

The communal areas had not been redecorated for a number of years and the flooring was beyond its useful and maintainable life. As the larger works programme was nearing completion, it was time to look at options for bringing a refresh to these communal spaces.

The interior refurb was planned around the Fire Safety Team’s project to renew the entrance doors at the blocks, so the works were coordinated to minimise disruption for residents.

We also worked closely with the colour designers from our paint supplier (PPG) to develop colour options for the décor. Residents were invited to choose from three colour schemes, with 58% of residents responding, Aqua was the most popular option selected.

The communal areas were the final phase of the works programme which has seen a significant investment across the estate including repointing of brickwork, renewal of windows, kitchen and bathroom refurbishments and external decoration of all properties.

Thank you to all the residents for your patience during the works, and for getting involved in consultation process.
