Resident voices are at the heart of shaping social housing's future, which is why the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG) has launched a new Social Housing Resident Stakeholder Forum. We're inviting Clarion resident representatives to take part!
The Forum provides a dedicated space for residents and representative organisations to share feedback and suggestions on social housing policies, residents’ rights, and the issues that matter most to you.
By joining, you’ll help ensure that resident voices are heard at every stage of policy development, improving transparency and strengthening the evidence that informs advice to government ministers.
MHCLG will be accepting panel applications until Sunday, 7th September at 23:00. The application process is straightforward, and Clarion residents can apply directly.
Applications are open to anyone living in homes for social rent, affordable rent, and low-cost homeownership.
Why get involved?
The forum gives residents a direct route to engage with Ministers and officials, and:
- have a direct role in shaping policies affecting their homes and communities.
- help highlight challenges such as stigma, tenant voice, and service quality.
- help them understand more about best practice across the sector, complementing initiatives like the Resident Experience Innovation Fund.
- regularly help “temperature-check” how well consumer standards are being implemented, with a focus on resident voice.
How it works
Membership is by invitation from the Deputy Director of Social Housing Quality and Residents.
The Forum will meet quarterly, and will be chaired by the MHCLG's Deputy Director, with secretariat support from the Resident Engagement and Empowerment Team.
Meetings will include spotlight presentations from members, giving residents the opportunity to showcase their work and perspectives.
Officials from government teams will attend depending on the agenda, ensuring that discussions feed directly into live policy work.
While the Forum is not a decision-making body, it provides a vital opportunity to share insights and ensure resident experiences help shape national policy.
Make your voice count
This forum builds on the work of the Social Housing Resident Panel, where up to 250 tenants share their views directly with government. Together, these initiatives show a real commitment to putting resident voices front and centre in the decisions that affect them.
If you’re passionate about improving services, tackling stigma, and ensuring residents’ rights are protected, this is your chance to be heard.
