Debt Awareness Week 2026

Clarion

Debt can happen to anyone, and no one should feel ashamed. This week is Debt Awareness Week (16–22 March), and it’s all about reminding people that help is always available.

Many of us will face money worries at some point in our lives. In fact, one in two people will deal with a debt problem at least once.

But having debt doesn’t mean you’ve done something wrong. It doesn’t mean you’ve failed. It simply means you’re human.

That’s why we’re encouraging everyone to join the conversation and break the stigma. When we talk about debt openly, it becomes easier for people to get the support they need. No one should have to face money worries alone, and you don’t have to.

Sunita’s story

For many people, debt isn’t just about overspending, it’s about struggling to afford the essentials. In fact, 35% of our residents have had to borrow money or use credit to cover basic household costs.

In this video, we share Sunita’s story, highlighting the real impact of debt and how the right support can make a difference. Watch to see how free debt advice helped her regain financial stability, access the benefits she was entitled to, and improve her monthly budget.
