After a long, very wet winter, I am delighted to welcome you to the spring edition of my update, which is packed with information designed to support and keep you informed, complemented with handy guidance to help you manage your home.
And with this being the season of fresh possibilities and new beginnings, I also hope that you will find plenty to inspire you, whether that is exploring our free career guidance, getting involved in your community or perhaps sharpening your digital skills.
Electrical safety checks
At the very top of our list of priorities is, and always will be, to keep you, your home and your building safe.
Following the recent introduction of Awaab's Law to reduce health hazards in social housing, we welcome new legislation requiring electrical safety testing once every five years. These checks are an essential requirement of your tenancy agreement, so it is important you look out for your appointment letter when it arrives and help us by allowing access on the day.
Your check will be carried out by our approved contractor, Wiggetts. All engineers carry ID and will treat your home with care and respect. For more information, including how to report any concerns you may have in the meantime, visit our electrical safety checks page.
Alongside routine safety checks, keeping your home safe and comfortable means spotting when things need attention - especially issues that may pose health risks, such as damp and mould. Please report any repairs to us as soon as you can or let us know if you need any support, so we can put things right quickly.
We're here with money guidance whenever you need it
As a Clarion resident, we offer a range of services and support to help you smoothly manage your tenancy. Money guidance is a core part of this, with our friendly team of dedicated advisors on hand with practical and confidential help.
Last year, we supported almost 6,000 residents with money guidance and in our regular Clarion Commitments feature we spotlight the way our specialist team can work together with you to manage your money, providing guidance on things such as budgeting, bills and accessing benefits, understand your options, and enjoy living in your home for as long as you want.
If you are struggling, please do not suffer in silence - we are here to help whenever you need it. Simply fill out our form and we will be in touch.
Your voice matters
I am passionate about hearing more from you, our residents, to ensure the services we provide reflect your needs and are delivered efficiently.
There are many flexible ways you can get involved and every contribution, no matter how big or small, makes a difference. Our friendly team are always keen to hear from you and encourage you to take part in whatever way you can.
From digital learner to leader
One of the most rewarding aspects of my job is hearing the inspiring stories that emerge from your communities - of resident achievements that have a positive impact, not only on their life but those around them.
Simon’s story is one such example. After mastering digital skills with our free support - and gaining the confidence and eagerness to support his local community - Simon has gone on to train as one of our Digital Champions, a brilliant team of volunteers who empower people to learn life changing digital skills.
If you would like to improve your digital know-how, check out our digital guidance, or if you would like to join our Digital Champions, we would love to hear from you.
Tap into our specialist career support
Everyone's path into work is unique, which is why we offer free specialist career support alongside our Jobs and Training service. From building confidence and exploring new skills to launching a business idea, our tailored programmes give you personalised careers advice shaped around your needs. Discover what is available.
Applications open for the Social Housing Scholarships programme
Fresh for 2026, I’m delighted to share news about the Social Housing Sponsorship programme, which is open to residents of any age starting university in September and who aspire to build a career that strengthens local communities. The programme combines funding, paid internships and mentoring to support your studies and open pathways into a wide range of careers - not just housing. Register your interest by sending us an email.
In the months ahead, I look forward to meeting more of you as I continue visiting our Clarion communities and see our services in action. If you spot me out and about, please do pop over and say hello.
With best wishes,
Kate Still
