Michelle's Update: June 2023

Clarion Housing

Help to manage the energy hikes

Since the cost of living started to bite, our friendly Money Guidance team has been on hand with practical and expert support; last year helping more than 17,000 residents to better manage their finances and feel more in control.

The team have created a couple of videos to help you tackle the energy hikes and potentially make savings. They include how you can get to grips with understanding your energy bill, how to keep it as accurate as possible, and the simple actions you can take if you are worried and struggling with your finances.

Make a difference as a member of our Customer Committee

We are looking for five residents to represent their community, voice opinions and feedback on the services we run as part of our brand-new Customer Committee. In exchange for your time and commitment, you will be paid £2,000 over the course of the year, plus it will look great on your CV. You can choose to attend meetings virtually or face to face and we can provide any equipment you may need to participate. Find out more.

As a resident, you are the best person to tell us about the area you live, with your say vital in helping us improve and shape our services. No matter how much time you have to spare, we offer lots of flexible ways you can have your say.

Our commitments keep you at the heart of everything we do

You may remember that in my last update I introduced our Clarion Commitments. These six commitments are driven by our ambition to deliver great customer service to you, ensure you are aware of the standards you can expect, and to demonstrate greater transparency.

We will be providing monthly information on our Clarion Commitments page to share how well we are performing and show our progress.

How we are tackling condensation, damp, and mould

We are continuing to keep a relentless focus on tackling leaks, condensation, damp, and mould and although there is no quick fix, we have hired 100 additional staff as part of our dedicated action plan. If you are at all concerned or need support, please get in touch via our dedicated email address.

Report a repair online in minutes

Our services are constantly being improved, and we work hard to harness the technology that make managing your home easier.

Since February, more than 6,000 residents have reported a repair through their online account, benefitting from the round the clock service and speed it offers. Register or find out more.

If you need a hand registering, help exploring the many benefits or simply finding your way around your online account, we offer a free workshop. Share your Windrush stories for our special 75th anniversary project

This month marks the 75th anniversary of the arrival of the HMT Empire Windrush, which brought more than 800 passengers to UK shores from the Caribbean. These pioneers went on to help contribute and shape the richly diverse modern Britain that we know today, with its blend of many traditions and cultures.

To mark this iconic slice of history, we are running a project to gather stories - personal or those handed down by family or friends - photographs, or recipes, that explore the heritage of the Windrush generation. These will be collated into a commemorative booklet, which will launch in October during Black History Month. Find out how you can take part.

Follow our guide for a safer sizzle

Now the weather is starting to heat up, many of us will be planning to dust off and light up the barbecue. Whether you are cooking with coals, gas, or a disposable grill, please remember that barbecuing can be a fire risk.

We have put together five simple tips to ensure you and your friends have a wonderful time whilst staying safe during your barbecue, including never barbecuing on a balcony, ensuing you have a bucket of sand or water nearby in case of fire, always staying focused and near to the grill, and more.
